PlainEnglish

v1.0

Everyone gets letters they can't quite read. A note from the doctor's office, a clause in a lease, an insurance decision, a bill with a code on it, a "we've updated our terms" email. Paste it here and get back what it actually says, what it means for you, the questions to ask, and anything that looks like it needs a second look.

1

Paste the letter

Type or paste the confusing bit — a paragraph or the whole thing. Say what kind of document it is if you know, and add a line about your situation if it helps ("I'm the tenant", "this is for my mum").

2

Take out the private bits

Hit Remove personal details and names, account numbers, emails and phone numbers are blanked before anything is sent. The explanation works just as well without them.

3

Read it plainly

You get a one-paragraph summary, what it means for you, the questions to ask whoever sent it, any red flags, and who to talk to next. Not advice — a translation.

Not sure what to paste? Hit Try an example — it's a real-shaped insurance letter, and it shows what you'll get back.

Where your text goes: to this site's server, which passes it to an AI model (Anthropic's Claude) for the explanation, and back. It isn't stored or logged here. Still — use the Remove personal details button; a good explanation never needs your account number.

What this means for you

    Questions worth asking

      Worth a second look

        Jargon, translated

This is a translation to help you understand what you were sent, written by an AI from the text you pasted. It isn't legal, medical or financial advice, it can get things wrong, and it can't see anything you didn't paste. For anything with a deadline, money, your health or your home, the "who to talk to" line above is the important one.
